The best 3 DIY hand sanitizer homemade recipes and their effect on your skin
Hand washing remains the best method of disinfection, but there are times when we do not have soap and water available, so a natural hand sanitizer becomes quite necessary.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, recommends that your sanitizer mix must be at least 60 percent alcohol to work properly. But it’s always better to get way above that.
Here are 3 DIY hand sanitizer recipes that actually have a proper effect if you stick to the rules and make sure that the tools you use for mixing are properly sanitized !
1.Hand sanitizer for ”to go”
Ingredients you will need:
– 4 tablespoons / 56 ml aloe Vera gel
– 1 tablespoon / 14 ml sanitary alcohol
– 1 tablespoon / 14 ml witch hazel
– 1 tablespoon / 14 ml colloidal silver
– 1 tablespoon / 14ml vitamin e
– 1 teaspoon / 5ml vegetable glycerin
– 1/4 teaspoon / 1.2 ml gelatin
– 1/4 teaspoon / 1.2ml preservative like phenoxyethanol
– 1/2 teaspoon essential oils /2.5ml 2-3% :
– 15 drops of tea tree
– 8 drops of lavender
– 11 drops of orange
– 11 drops of geranium
– 12 drops of neroli
Combine gelatin with colloidal silver and put the mixture on heated bath (bain-marie) to dissolve. Colloidal silver can be also replaced with distilled water.
Add sanitary alcohol, aloe Vera and the vegetable glycerin. Continue with the essential oils. For the final touch, add the preservative.
To pour the disinfectant into bottles, you can use a thicker syringe. Most convenient is to put the hand sanitizer in a travel size recipient.
2.The hand sanitizer gentle gel
Ingredients you will need:
~ mineral water – 60 grams
~ aloe Vera gel – 10 grams
~ Xanthan gum – 2 grams
~ 98 degrees grain alcohol – 30 grams
~ Lavender essential oil – 13-15 drops
~ Tea tree essential oil – 10 drops
~ glycerin – 2 grams
Add the water and the aloe Vera gel in a glass recipient. Sprinkle the Xanthan gum over the liquid.
Leave it for a few minutes until the gel is formed and then add alcohol.
Add the drops from the antimicrobial complex and the essential oils (mix it after adding each essential oil separately) and add the glycerin to it.
It is a disinfectant gel that isn’t greasy or sticky and is gentle with the skin.
It’s absorbed very quickly and leaves a pleasant fragrance on the hands.
3.Spritz hand sanitizer
Ingredients you will need:
– 100 ml – alcohol of 72 (or more) degrees
– 20 drops of thyme essential oil
– 20 drops of clove essential oil
– 10 drops of tea tree essential oil
Mix all these ingredients with antibacterial properties together and put it into a spritz bottle. Shake the recipient before you use it.

September 11, 2020I live in USA. For the gentle gel formula with 98 degrees grain alcohol… is 98 degrees the same as 98%? Is grain alcohol just vodka? And could i use isopropyl alcohol? If so, what strength and how much?
